The first affiliated school was established by the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church in 1993.
Oakwood School is a registered independent multi-campus school which began in 1995.
As a school we are a highly respected academic facility that demands high standards from ourselves. The School is happy to be judged objectively against other schools on performance criteria, measured as the fulfilment of student potential, aligned to government standards.
We are committed to achieving the highest levels of teaching from our staff and academic potential from our students.
Oakwood School has established and is committed to maintain an educational structure that will provide for students located diversely throughout Tasmania. This involves the provision of a central administration and registered campuses, strategically located to serve the students and maintains the integrity of being ‘one school’ by:
- centrally enrolling all students;
- maintaining a uniform administration structure, policies and audit system;
- overseeing the curriculum delivery and the assessment and reporting methods;
- controlling and maintaining the financial viability of the school.
The programs and teaching at Oakwood School support and promote the principles and practice of Australian democracy including a commitment to elected government, the rule of law, equal rights of all before the law, freedom of religion, freedom of speech and association and the values of openness and tolerance.
Oakwood School has campuses located in Devonport, Hobart and Launceston.
